Wow, I can't believe it's already time to start planning Sawyer's first birthday party! Where has the past year gone?!? In ways it seems to have flown by, but in other ways, it may have been one of the longest years ever. It has definitely been a stressful year for us, but we are FINALLY seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Sawyer is mostly over his colicky, screaming episodes, although he remains a tempermental little guy. He is doing MUCH better with solid foods & has developed quite the list of foods that he is now able to tolerate (chicken, carrots, brown rice, avocado, bananas, peaches, pears, apples, Cheerios, and of course his Neocate). In the next month or two, we will begin transitioning Sawyer off of his Neocate and we have our fingers crossed that he will do well with this change. After MUCH thought, research, and consideration, I think that we will be transitioning him to Hemp milk, as this seems to be least likely to cause an allergic reaction & be the most nutritious "milk" that he is able to drink.
So, what exactly is Sawyer up to these days? Well, he is a crawling maniac. Seriously, if crawling were a Nascar event, I have no doubt that he would win :) He pulls himself up onto everything and is getting braver every day with taking steps. The most he has taken at one time is about 4 steps, but I have no doubt that he will be running before long. He is obsessed with Garrett & follows him around everywhere. Garrett loves his baby brother to pieces & runs to check on him the second he wakes up in the morning. It's also quite funny to us that Garrett is so gentle with Sawyer and, in turn, Sawyer kinda beats the crap of of Garrett :) They literally have little "wrestling" matches where Sawyer kinda pounces on Garrett & won't let go until Garrett is on the floor.....boys....what can you do? Sawyer is FINALLY beginning to sleep better at night and has mostly slept thru the night for the past week or so. This makes for a VERY happy Momma! He is also jabbering away like crazy. His most common word is Mama, but he has also said Dada. He also has begun shaking his finger at us and saying Nananana, usually after I shake my finger at him & say "No no no". He currently has SEVEN teeth with an eighth getting ready to pop thru the gum line.
Sawyer's current likes: His Mom (seriously he's the biggest Momma's boy ever!), anything that Garrett is playing with, paper, avocado, apples, his stuffed blue monkey, teething biscuits, taking baths, smashing food into his hair, riding in his sling, climbing stairs, electrical cords, remote controls, and iPhones.
Sawyer's current dislikes: Any food that is pureed, being told No, having his diaper changed, being forced to wait for anything, getting ready for bed, having his hands wiped off, and having his ears cleaned out.
