This past Monday Sawyer had his 2 month physical. How can it be that he is already 2 months old?!? He weighed in at 12 pounds, 7 ounces (75th percentile), measured 23 1/4" long (75th percentile), and his head was 40cm (50th percentile). He is definitely growing! He is still on Neocate formula and will continue to be until he is at least 6 months old. We met with the Pediatric Gastroenterologist last week and he felt that at 6 months we could attempt to switch him back to Nutramagen and see how it goes. If Sawyer does not tolerate it well and begins to have blood in his stools again, he will go back on the Neocate until he is a year old. We have had no luck getting our insurance company to approve payment for the Neocate, which really stinks, but its what he needs and so we will suck it up and pay for it out of pocket.
Overall his mood has improved, but he is still a colicky little guy. We have gone from 6-7 hours a day of screaming down to a few 1-2 hour screaming sessions. It is still enough to drive a person crazy some days, but I keep telling myself that "this too shall pass". We are still not getting much sleep, as Sawyer is still eating every 2-3 hours all night. This is probably most likely due to the fact that the Neocate is so broken down that it is digested very quickly, which makes him hungry all the time. But, he is making up for the screaming and not sleeping by giving out all kinds of adorable smiles and coos (when he isn't crying). Those little grins do wonders for my heart and immediately make up for the the long day or night that preceded them :)
